New Skiff-Friendly Slimmer Design!
The Tobinski Dynamics is a versatile Eurorack module combining a compressor/expander, sub bass enhancer, 3-band inductor-based EQ, and a harmonic exciter. Originally designed to process drums, its flexibility makes it suitable for a wide range of applications.
Compressor/Expander:
The dynamics section employs a discrete transistor-based circuit capable of soft clipping when overdriven. Using a feedforward envelope detector, this design ensures fast attack times by processing the signal before compression.
Sub Bass Enhancer:
Features its own compression circuit to āduckā the initial transient, allowing sub bass frequencies to be amplified without introducing distortion. This results in enhanced low-end presence and higher overall levels.
3-Band Inductor-Based EQ:
The LCR EQ design provides a rich, characterful tone with a charming analog warmth. When pushed, it imparts a pleasant "bite" to the sound. The controls are subtle at lower settings but become more pronounced as they are increased.
Harmonic Exciter:
Adds a touch of distortion to high frequencies, bringing out the sparkle of cymbals or the snap of snare drums. A switch toggles between Low Band (ideal for snare snap) and High Band (perfect for cymbal sparkle).
Additional Functionality:
Sidechain Input and External Control:
Includes inputs for sidechain compression and external envelope control, along with an envelope output to drive other modules.
Modular Versatility:
Features separate inputs and outputs for the Compressor/Expander and EQ sections, allowing them to be used independently as two distinct modules.
Mix Control:
Blend the unprocessed signal with the processed output for precise control over the final sound
